My Work
Ivan Midderigh is the Founder and Program Director of Midderigh Vox. He is an active member of the Roy Hart Theatre in Malérargues, France, an internationally renowned artistic centre dedicated to vocal research and to its application in life and the performing arts. Ivan was for many years a member of faculty at the Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute, whose flagship program is offered annually through the Centre for Executive Education at the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley. He has guest lectured at the Olin School of Business at Washington University, St Louis, Missouri.
For over 25 years, drawing on his expertise in the pioneering voice work of the Roy Hart Theatre and its application in corporate leadership communications, Ivan has led seminars and workshops internationally across a wide array of industries.
Ivan guides his students to expand the depth and emotional range of their voices and communication skills. Applying his personal experience in theatre observing the psychology of group dynamics, Ivan harnesses the alchemy of collective energy to create a frame within which individuals are empowered to express themselves with clarity and confidence. He directs his students to bypass the censoring brain to push through their unconsciously imposed self-limitations and perceptions, in order to step into their full, authentic presence.
Born in Somerset, England and educated through Rudolf Steiner’s Waldorf School system, Ivan is a graduate of the Brighton College of Arts and Crafts. He worked as a freelance photographer before joining the newly founded Roy Hart Theatre in 1971, with which he relocated to France in 1974. As President of the Centre Artistique International Roy Hart from 2004 to 2009, he established the Roy Hart teacher-training program and diploma in collaboration with then Director Jay Livernois.
In addition to performing and teaching, Ivan was responsible for the creation and maintenance of the theatre’s photographic archive from 1971-1986 documented in his 2015 publication Roy Hart Theatre Photographic Archives, Volume I.
A resident of France and a citizen of the world, having lived and worked in the UK, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Thailand, the USA, and South Africa, Ivan divides his time between teaching and coaching at the Roy Hart Theatre headquarters in Malérargues, and corporate training and facilitation work internationally.
He is currently performing as Sarastro in the production Zauber, directed by Ian Magilton and inspired by Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
Ivan speaks English and French.
